Medeama SC have confirmed official communication from the new Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah to secure a permanent deal for midfielder Justice Blay.
The Yellow and Mauves combative midfielder who joined Kotoko and for a season-long loan seemed no closer to confirming where he will be playing when football resumes as earlier bids from the Porcupine Warriors were below his price tag.
Blay wants a move that will keep him in Kumasi and continue wearing the red shirt but no deal has been reached so far. The earlier negotiations for the player was reported to have frustrated Dr Kwame Kyei who was Executive Chairman then but talks have revived with the new leadership of Kotoko to secure a full transfer.
Communications Director for Medeama SC Patrick Akoto has confirmed formal talks with Kotoko to finish up a deal for the Black Stars B midfielder.
“We are clear in our mind that the interest of the player is key in this and as a club, we see the player’s choice as paramount. Whatever the outcome of the talks, we know it will be beneficial to the player (Blay) and the two clubs involved,” Akoto informed Nhyira FM.
“It is true we have had official contact from Asante Kotoko on Justice Blay. Nana Yaw Amponsah the new CEO has been in constant relations with us but there are other clubs also involved in negotiations.
It is believed that Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu has asked for the player's services for his side on a permanent deal and his request is being facilitated to help in building a new team.
We have been on the table since the loan deal expired and it was a letter to request for discussions to finalise a permanent deal for the player but the coronavirus pandemic halted it for a while. These are negotiations and if everything is finalized all supporters of Medeama and Asante Kotoko will be informed,” he added.
Blay, 28 now scored twice in 13 appearances for Kotoko with the notable finish in the premier league game against Hearts of Oak where he nodded home the opener in a 2-1 victory.
