Kotoko 0-0 Hearts of Oak: Players rated

The first Super Clash of the 2020/21 season ended in a 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The game was not without action. Kotoko missed a penalty early on and Hearts of Oak suffered the same fate in the second half.

Both teams also saw their efforts come off the woodwork on occasion. Kotoko and Hearts now have 24 points each.

Here are the ratings of the players:

Kotoko

Razak Abalora- 4

He was calm when called upon. He showed his quality by quickly coming off his line to stop a great opportunity. Despite gifting a penalty in the second half, Abalora reacted well to make the stop.

Yussif Mubarik- 2

Started the game in a really nervy manner. He made a huge mistake early on and could have seen the side go behind without the action from Abalora. He also struggled to contain Hearts attackers.

Ismail Ganiu- 2.5

Was forced into an early yellow card and struggled to form an effective partnership with Mubarik.

Imoro Ibrahim- 3

Was arguably the best defender for the Porcupines, matching up well with Razak on occasion.

Christopher Nettey- 2.5

He really struggled to deal with Patrick Razak who offered a lot of problems all day. Was a subpar outing for the right back.

Latif Anabila- 4.5

He was arguably the brightest personnel on the pitch for Kotoko. Defended well and initiated attacks for his teammates.

Emmanuel Sarkodie- 2

He was largely anonymous, failing to get things going like his midfield partner did. Was rightly taken off.

Fabio Gama- 3.5

He set Kwame Opoku up for the penalty early on but struggled to create chances for the rest of the half. Came alive in the second 45 with some good defensive actions and direct running.

Emmanuel Gyamfi- 2.5

He tried to make things happen but the Hearts of Oak defenders made his work difficult.

Naby Keita- 2.5

He got himself in good positions and tried to test Attah but did not have much success on that front.

Kwame Opoku- 2

A really poor outing for the striker who is usually trusted to score. Failed to convert a penalty in the opening minutes and struggled for the rest of the half.

He was unlucky in the second period. A powerful shot from him late on came off the woodwork.

Mudasiru Salifu- 2.5

Brought the needed energy and control after coming on in the second half. Could have netted one for the Porcupines.

Adom Frimpong- 2.5

He helped Anabila to control the middle of the pitch after replacing Sarkodie. His presence sparked an upturn in confidence for his team.

Patrick Asmah- N/A

Was introduced late in the game and so could not affect the game much.

Hearts of Oak

Richard Attah- 5.5

He was no doubt the man of the match. The goalkeeper managed to stop a spot kick early on and did not put a foot wrong afterwards.

Raddy Ovouka- 3

He had some nervy moments in the game but put up a good shift at the back.

Mohammed Alhassan- 4.5

The center back came out strong in a number of situations. He was mostly a thorn in Kwame Opoku's side.

Nuru Sulley- 2.5

Sulley gifted the penalty at the early stages. Despite growing in confidence, the center back was sometimes caught out of position.

Fatawu Mohammed-3.5

He started the first half brightly with good forward runs. However, the full back slowly faded in the final half.

Benjamin Afutu-4

He combined well with his midfield partners to dominate Kotoko in the first half. It was a different story in the second half but he did well overall.

Frederick Ansah Botchway- 5

He was easily the next best player in the game. The midfielder made a number of forward runs and penetrative passes which should have been converted.

Abdul Manaf Umar- 4

He created opportunities against his opponents in the first half but saw a downturn in his production in the second half.

Patrick Razak- 3

He was a real menace for the opposite defenders, skipping past his markers on several occasions.

However, the silky winger lacked in the final production, failing to find the net despite being at the end of attacks.

Obeng Junior- 2.5

A poor outing for a player who was deemed as a huge threat. His finishing was poor and did not affect the game as much as Razak.

Victor Aidoo- 3

He has experienced better days. The forward could not get much going for him in the game.

Isaac Mensah- 1.5

He came into the game with some much needed energy but missed from the spot. After that, his confidence took a nosedive as he was unable to create problems for the opposition.

Michelle Sarpong- N/A

He did not have much time to make things happen.
