The former Arsenal and Liverpool defender has been handed a coaching role with lesser national teams in his native country
The Ivorian Football Federation have confirmed the appointment of Kolo Toure as the assistant coach of Ivory Coast Olympic team and home-based team, Ivory Coast A.
The 36-year-old defender who holds a Uefa B coaching license will assist Ibrahim Kamara with national team duties as he continues to work towards obtaining his A license.
The former Manchester City and Celtic defender will guide the People Elephants in their 2018 African Nations Championship qualifying game against Niger.
Toure scored seven goals in 120 games for the Ivory Coast national team with appearances in seven African Cup of Nations and three Fifa World Cup tournaments.
“The President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) informs the clubs, the sports public and the press that as part of his training as a coach, with a view to a reconversion at the end of his professional career, the footballer Professional,” the statement reads.
“Kolo Toure, ex-international Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire, starts a practical training course in the National and Local Selections of Côte d'Ivoire.
“Holder of the UEFA B License, he will assist the KAMARA Ibrahim Coach as an assistant in the CHAN 2018 qualifiers while preparing for the UEFA A license.
“Kolo Toure will thus learn more and transmit to the new generations, its long and rich experience.
"The FIF gives him his support and wishes him a wonderful adventure.”
