The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP has deployed a research team to investigate alleged bribery and undue text messaging on the part of some aspirants of the party's flagbearership position.
The team is expected to investigate and report those involved in such acts to the appropriate quarters for action to be taken.
Addressing a news conference in Kumasi on Monday, Mr Samuel Okyere Donkor, KNUST TESCON President, said the student's body would not tolerate acts or conducts that were not in conformity with the party's regulations.
He urged the aspirants to be careful in the manner they conduct themselves and also how they package their campaign massages.
Mr Donkor said although they were campaigning to pursue their own agenda, it must not be to the detriment of the chances of the NPP winning the 2008 elections.
"There is no need for anyone to act in any way in their own pursuits for power that may cripple our chances of maintaining our hard-earned power next year", he stressed.
The TESCON President said the party needed a leader who had the people at heart and could win the floating voters as well as maintaining the already existing votes.
Mr Donkor appealed to the delegates for the national congress to desist from taking monies or any gift, which is an act of bribery.
He urged all TESCON members and the youth of the party to exercise their duties in a manner that would not impair the image of the party but rather uplift it.
