The National Association of Domestic Bursars and Matrons (NADBAM) has appealed to government to pay risk allowance to kitchen staff at the Senior High School level.

The National President of the Association, Margaret Asamoah said the effect of smoke and heat in the kitchen poses serious health risk to the lives of kitchen staff who are not covered by the state.

She said some members of the Association have developed health problems in their line of duty.

Mrs Asamoah made the appeal at the Seventh Biennial National Conference of the Association in Wa.

The Conference was aimed at sensitizing members of the Association on how to ensure successful implementation of the free Senior High School education policy.

Mrs Margaret Asamoah lauded government for the successful implementation of the free senior school.

She said Bursars and Matrons play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the policy and will continue to do everything possible to ensure that it sustained.

Upper West Regional Director of Education, Duncan Nsor, assured the Association that their appeal will be channeled to the appropriate authorities for redress.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh in a speech read on his behalf said government has reviewed the procurement process for acquiring foodstuff for Senior High Schools.

He assured them that suppliers will send items and foodstuff to their doors step in order to reduce stress.
