In a significant political development, King Mohammed VI of Morocco delivered his annual Throne Day speech, marking the 25th anniversary of his ascension to the throne.
The King expressed gratitude for the political, institutional, economic, and social achievements of his reign.
Highlighting efforts to consolidate Moroccan identity, ensure social cohesion, and strengthen Morocco’s international standing, King Mohammed VI also addressed ongoing challenges.
He stated the critical issue of water management exacerbated by drought and climate change, underscoring the importance of good governance, prompt implementation of water transfer projects, dam construction, and accelerating desalination plants.
The King reiterated Morocco’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting his commitment as President of the Al-Quds Committee to provide urgent aid to Gaza and promote a sustainable two-state solution.
He affirmed that Morocco’s focus on internal affairs does not detract from its concern for the Palestinian people’s plight.
King Mohammed VI outlined three key points:
1. The urgency of ending the war in Gaza and opening political horizons for just and lasting peace.
2. Reviving the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis through negotiations, confronting extremism from all sides.
3. Linking regional security and stability to the two-state solution, with Gaza as part of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The King praised the nation’s vital forces and the Royal Armed Forces for their dedication to national unity and security.
His address noted Morocco’s balanced approach to addressing complex regional issues while maintaining a focus on internal development.
As tensions escalate in the Middle East, King Mohammed VI’s speech highlights Morocco’s role as a key regional player committed to resolving crises and promoting peace and stability.
His message serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges and the need for sustained diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.
