As part of his efforts to promote the wearing of the traditional smock, called 'Batakari', musician King Ayisoba and his team are putting together the fourth edition of Batakari Night.
The event is part of the musician’s campaign for more people to patronise batakari, also referred to as fugu, made of hand loomed strips of cotton.
Artistes billed to perform on the night alongside King Ayisoba include Wanlov the Kubolor, Kwaw Kese, Stevo Atambire, and Yaa Pono.
The 'I Want To See You My Father' singer told Hitz @ 1 in an interview that his initiative is gaining grounds and that he has been overwhelmed by the interest in the event.
He revealed that President John Mahama has even made him as King of Batakari as part of Ghana’s quest to promote patronage of batakari.
King Ayisoba has made great waves with his Kologo sounds since he was discovered in the Ghanaian music scene in 2005.
This year's edition will be in two parts, the first is slated for January 30 at Alliance française and the second on February 7 at the Jubilee Park in Bolgantanga.
