A farmer who allegedly shot and killed one person and wounded another at Ayigya Zongo in Kumasi is on the run.
Police are looking for the farmer, also described as a tipper truck driver who is said to have shot at the victims on suspicion there were about to steal from his sugarcane farm.
The dead is identified as Kwaku Atta, 18, while the wounded, Anim, is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
Two others escaped the attack.
Police found three firearms, including the murder weapon, two boxes of live cartridges and two pieces of shells upon a search in his room
Michael Mandela, a survivor of the attack, told Luv FM’s Saeed Ali Yaqub in Kumasi that together with the others, they were going to toilet at a spot beyond the man’s farm when all of a sudden they heard the gunshot and his brother fell to the ground while another of the group took to his heels with blood oozing from his body.
According to Michael, he attempted chasing the man but the suspected murderer aimed to shoot at him too so he had to escape, enabling the man to run away.
