The Ketu District Chief Executive Mr Justice Cudjoe has called for a stop to the unhealthy rivalry among various organs forming the Urban, Town and Area (UTA) councils in the district.
He said the UTAs, made up of council chairmen, chiefs, elected and appointed assembly members and unit committee members need to know their respective roles and authority to stop the unnecessary bickering.
Mr Cudjoe said the councils were set up to assist the assemblies to meet their targets in revenue mobilization, community management and initiation of development projects and that any unhealthy practice by them affected the districts.
The DCE said this while inaugurating the various UTA councils for the district on Thursday at Aflao, Wheta, Dzodze, Agbozume, Afife and Wudoaba.
He said properties of the assemblies including toilet facilities, the main issue of the rifts in the area, are under the control of the councils.
"Such properties are not to be controlled by the people in their respective areas in which they are located," he said.
The inauguration of the Denu council had been postponed for lack of quorum.
He said though the Councilors’ works are generally voluntary they must take pride in working to improve on the conditions of the people.
Mr Cudjoe asked the members to help improve revenue collection in their areas.
