Keta Sunset Sports and Wuo Gbee scored 7 goals each on Matchday 4 of the CAL Bank Beach Soccer Premier League. As many as 30 goals were recorded over the weekend. Keta sent a strong message to the rest of the teams participating in the league by thrashing East Legon Sharks 7-0 in what turned out to be a very cagey encounter, especially during the first period. Both sides defended well and Sunset were made to wait until the last minute of the first session to find their way past Sharks’ inspirational goalkeeper Foli Yemo. They were awarded a free-kick which Julius Beckley ferociously struck. Foli, however, parried the ball into the path of the unmarked Adjetey Shine. The latter tapped it into an empty net to give Keta their first goal. Sunset started the second period with much purpose as they scored just after kick-off. Adjetey Shine controlled a beautiful pass and dribbled past two players before passing to Newlove Doe to slot the ball in the net. Seconds later, Newlove Doe took advantage of a mix up by the Sharks defense to score Sunset’s third. The Sharks looked exhausted as they left their goalkeeper exposed to Sunset’s vicious attacks. Ambrose Etse increased his team’s tally with a fierce shot after Awutey Senyo had made it 4-0 to Sunset. Adjetey Shine completed a fine performance with another goal before Ambrose Etse put the cherry on the cake with the 7th from the penalty spot. With this emphatic win, Keta Sunset Sports maintained their unbeaten run in the league. Wuo Gbεε super striker Richard Osa scored 5 goals to help his side whip Osu Dolphins 7-1. The La side was eager to put last week’s derby defeat behind them. They showed their intent right from the kick-off and won 3 successive corner kicks in the first minute. Richard Osa scored Wuo Gbεε’s first after he connected well with Adotey Kpakpo’s cross from a corner. Dolphins replied immediately but were denied by goalkeeper Kojo Owusu with a brilliant save from Ebenezer Wortey’s shot. Osa scored the second goal after a neat one-two with strike partner James Tagoe. Osa did not have to wait long for his third hat trick in 4 games as he dribbled the whole Dolphins defense before placing the ball at the blind side of Dolphins keeper Evans Adjei. James Tagoe netted the 4th goal from the spot kick after he was fouled in Dolphins’ defensive third. Osu Dolphins were not ready to lie low as number 2 man Edmund Dentsil pulled one back after they had just changed goalkeepers. Richard Osa was not done for the day as he came back from the bench to score two goals to make the score 6-1. Substitute Dolphins goalkeeper Joshua Sowah made a mess of a feeble shot by James Tagoe as he allowed the ball to creep through his hands and legs into the net for Wuo Gbεε’s seventh goal. The result left Dolphins rooted at the bottom of the table with no win in their 4 matches. In the third game of the day, Layoca continued their resurgence with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Dansoman Beach Soccer Club. Although Layoca were missing their inspirational captain Nii Laaye Bonney it did not affect them as they rose to the challenge that Dansoman brought forward. Moses Akorli gave Layoca the lead in the second minute of the first period only for Jacob Hughes to equalize in the third minute for Dansoman. Eben Boadu scored Layoca’s second just before the referee blew the whistle for the end of the first period. Daniel Adjei and Albert Sowah scored Layoca’s third and fourth goals in the second and third period respectively to end the game 4-1 in favour of Layoca. Senya Bereku Sharks run away as 3-2 victors over Tegbi Youth. Samuel Yartey opened the scoring for Senya Sharks with virtually the last kick of the first period after both sides played out a tough first twelve minutes. Anthonio Michael equalized for Tegbi Youth with a clever lob over Sharks goalkeeper Samuel Awere. Chris Yankson won a penalty kick for Sharks after he was fouled by Youth player Anthonio Michael. Chris Yankson stepped up and sent Youth keeper Jubilee Amenakpor the wrong way to make the score 2-1 in favour of Sharks. Emmanuel Barnes added a third before Pascal Azaletey pulled one back for Youth to cause a nervy finish to the match. The win for Senya Bereku Sharks sends them to fifth position on the league standings. The final match of the day pitched Ada Assurance against Havedzi Mighty Warriors. The match begun with both sides testing both goalkeepers as fans rose to cheer the end to end stuff they were witnessing. Kabu Benedict finally broke the deadlock for Mighty Warriors in the seventh minute with a well drilled shot into the bottom left corner of Assurance keeper, Daniel Osabutey’s net. Warriors’ striker Aziz Kofi scored a cracker as his perfect weighted shot fizzled past a helpless Osabutey in the Assuarance goal. Things got a bit embarrassing for Osabutey as a momentary loss of concentration saw him concede a third goal. Kwaku Delicious hit a shot from the centre of the pitch right from kick-off of the third period which travelled straight into Osabutey’s net. Assurance did not play in vain as Joseph Larweh scored a consolation, only for Benedict Kabu to restore Warriors’ three goal lead. The 4-1 victory warrants that Warriors remain second behind rivals Keta Sunset Sports.
