The champions of the 2024 Inter-School Reading Quiz (ISRQ) received a heartwarming surprise aboard their Kenya Airways flight to Dubai.
The winners, Grace Appiah, Gloria Appiah, and Ewurabena Koranteng Asante of Theorose School, were celebrated mid-flight with thunderous applause from passengers and the cabin crew.
A member of the cabin crew made a special announcement: "We want to celebrate an important group who participated in a reading quiz in Ghana – winners of the Perbi Cubs Inter-School Reading Quiz. They are on a trip to Dubai as a prize package. We congratulate you and we thank you for choosing to fly Kenya Airways."
The announcement was followed by a resounding applause, leaving the three young champions amazed and excited.
The spontaneous gesture was a fitting tribute to the trio’s remarkable achievements in the fiercely competitive literacy contest. Accompanied by their teacher, Grace, Gloria, and Ewurabena embarked on this educational and recreational journey, showcasing the importance of promoting literacy and academic excellence.
This recognition aboard Kenya Airways adds to the celebrations of the trio’s hard-earned victory. The ISRQ 2024 finals saw Theorose School triumph over Golden Angels School by a razor-thin margin of 0.5 points.
After an intense series of rounds, including the gripping ‘Genius Round,’ the all-girls team emerged victorious, earning not only bragging rights but also a GH₵3,000.00 cash prize, a gold trophy, and this remarkable trip worth GH₵150,000.00.
