The Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has launched a five-year strategic plan to improve governance, peace, and security performance across Africa.
Speaking at the launch, the commandant of the Centre, Major General Richard Addo Gyane, said they are hoping to foster partnerships and strengthen cooperation with multilateral institutions.
Developed to support the German and the Norwegian government, the strategic plan would focus on seven thematic areas which include peace and security operations, stabilisation and peacebuilding, governance, leadership and conflict prevention and technology in peace.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, the commandant of the Centre, Major General Addo Gyane, said KAIPTC over the years has made remarkable achievements in fulfilling its mandate.
He further explained the thematic areas of the strategic plan which will foster partnerships and strengthen cooperation with multilateral institutions.
Political officer at the German Embassy, Pauline Okenns, reaffirmed their commitment to support KAIPTC’s efforts in training the people, especially in the areas that focused on climate change, gender and youth empowerment in light of the feminist foreign policy of Germany.
She further affirmed the country's commitment to support the KAIPTC effort in training the police and civilian men and women for challenging peace support operations across the world.
