Junior doctors in the country are asking the Controller and Accountant-General to explain the circumstances under which GH¢260 was deducted from their March salaries.
The doctors say instead of a net salary of GH¢684, they each received GH¢424.
The group has therefore written to the Accountant-General, the Health Minister and the Ghana Medical Association demanding immediate explanation to the deductions.
The spokesperson for the doctors, Dr. Abiu Hilarious, told Joy News his colleagues are not amused at the development.
He said when the anomaly was detected members thought it was as a result of the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure.
So they decided to wait for their pay slips to confirm if that was the case.
Surprisingly, he said, two days after they received their salaries, the pay slips never came, obviously meaning that there is something wrong somewhere which someone is not able to tell us.”
He regrets that even though the issue was a major anomaly, there has been no official communication explaining it.
The affected doctors will meet to decide on the next line of action if by Friday, their letter has not been responded to.
