The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of indigenous cosmetics manufacturing firm, JRA Cosmetics Limited, Jane Reason Ahadzie, has been crowned the “Outstanding Female Entrepreneur of the Year” at the ninth edition of the annual Made in Ghana Awards (MIGA 2022).
The serial entrepreneur was recognised for her seamless leadership and innovation skills that have positioned her company as a leading cosmetics, skin and hair care as well as basic household products brand in the country.
JRA Cosmetics was also awarded the “Iconic Cosmetics Brand of the Year” as a formidable wholly-owned Ghanaian brand that has produced several household cosmetics and homecare products over the past two decades.
The event, which was held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, last Friday, was themed “Ghana beyond imports” to emphasize the need for Ghanaians to prioritise the consumption and patronage of locally-made products and services to underpin economic growth.
This year’s edition unveiled some top-25 locally-made and celebrated iconic products and services across all sectors of the economy—which is a campaign to highlight and expose Ghanaian brands that have exhibited excellence in manufacturing practices and standards in the country.
Speaking to journalists after the recognition, she attributed the feat to years of hard work, consistency and commitment to the course of reducing unemployment in the country.
“This comes to affirm my strong conviction that my efforts are not in vain. I wish to thank God almighty for this great gift and the opportunity to serve my generation,” she said.
Under her leadership, JRA has grown into an African cosmetics brand serving several markets across Africa and the EU markets.
She added: “This award is timely looking at Africa’s focus on the free continental trade prospects. We believe this will stamp in our readiness for this huge market base in satisfying the ever-growing demand for made in Ghana products.”
Ms. Ahadzie entreated Ghanaians to patronize locally-made products and services to support government’s industrial agenda and to push national growth.
“I have spent decades developing and manufacturing very high quality but most affordable products for the local markets. I believe Ghanaians and Africans all around have come a long way to appreciate locally produced products and with a lot more efforts and consistency, we will actually increase the demand for local products,” she noted.
