Joy News’ Upper East Regional correspondent, Albert Sore has been adjudged the best in Investigative Reporting in the region by the Ghana Journalists Association Awards (GJA).
The reporter’s Hotline Documentary titled ‘Tender Brides’ which was aired on the JoyNews channel won him the award last Saturday.
The documentary highlighted how teenage girls were being forced into early marriages in the Upper East region communities of Naaga and Kolgo.
Albert Sore dedicated the award to his parents whom he said are his source of motivation, the Hotline Documentary production team at Joy News and his Managing News Editor, Elvis Kwashie.
Last year, Tender Brides also won an award for Story of the Year at the Hyperlink Media Awards held at Tamale in the Northern region.
Albert Sore is known for reporting on many social-interest stories from rural, hard-to-reach communities in the Upper East region.
In 2017, he won the runner-up for reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals in Ghana at the prestigious West Africa Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA).
Albert Sore was also honoured in 2012 by International Child Rights NGO, Afrikids Ghana for his contribution to Child Rights reporting in the Upper East Region.
