JOY FM in Partnership with its sister TV station, Multi-TV, will this month host 50 invited guests to a special screening of an in-depth investigation on how residents of communities close to the Jubilee Oilfields are set to react to the oil exploration activities. The documentary was commissioned in April this year to investigate the expectations of communities close to the Jubilee Oilfield and what actual efforts have been made by authorities to meet or realign those expectations. Super Morning Show anchor Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah who led the investigation tells myjoyonline.com “The objective of this investigation was to find out if we are doing anything to realign or meet the expectations of the residents of the communities close to the oil field, beyond all the talk.” “It is important to properly manage the expectations of residents of these communities so we don’t end up with the situation where people’s expectations are not aligned with the realities. If we miss the opportunity to do that now, we will end up with a terrible situation on our hands and then end up struggling to manage it.” The thirty minute documentary was shot for both TV and radio with online in mind to enable the audience see at first hand the threats that Ghana face if the expectations of local communities are not well managed. Fifty (50) invited guests and stakeholders are expected to watch the screening at 8:00am at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Monday, June 28th and participate in subsequent discussions on JOY FM’s Super Morning Show. Show producers expect the event to afford the nation an opportunity to get feedback from locals in order to get things right before the production of first oil in October this year.
