Joy Business, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group has been awarded 'Business News Brand Promoting Local Businesses' for the year, 2020.
Joy Business was part of fifty (50) industry players, both individuals and organisations, awarded on the night.
Organisers of the awards say winners were selected for their impact and business success, particularly during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Awardees were selected from 10 out of the 16 regions of Ghana.
Head of Joy Business, Odelia Ntiamoah, explained that the award is important because, “Joy Business is not only for the English platforms, it is also for the mass market and the Akan platforms.
The Akan platform has 'Adom Dwadie' and these are people that we really want to reach with the business brand.”
According to her, receiving the award goes to show that Joy Business is really doing well by contributing its quota to the business community in Ghana.
“…we actually want to do more. We actually want to reach them with different business solutions and in 2022, it is one of the big things we want to do.
We have dominated the market for a long time and we intend to spread our tentacles even to the mass market and people who really need business information for their businesses to thrive”.

The CenBa Awards
Started in 2016, the organisers - CenBA Graduate Institute - realising that a good number of businesses collapse every year, not because of funding, but because of ideas, decided to help the situation.
The award is meant to encourage hardworking businesses in Ghana to enhance their operations, the business ecosystem and continue to reduce unemployment.
This year’s award was the third edition.
CEO of CenBA Graduate Institute, Stephen Fosu, revealed the award offers more than just the plaque.
“This is the first award institution in Ghana that is offering other packages in addition to the plaques. It is not nice when you award an institution and after one year, the business collapses.
From next year, every awardee will get free training every month, the idea is to help them get new ideas and strategies to help the business to grow.”
He continued that, “…we shall go on investment tours in Turkey and other European countries to expose them to a pool of investors, so that they can come back to Ghana to expand their businesses and employ more people.’
We also have a programme on GHONE TV where we shall give the awardees free advertisement as a way of helping them. We believe that it shouldn’t be just awards but it should be an ecosystem where we support each other for the growth of Africa.”
"In addition to filling the nomination forms on our website, we did some mystery shopping – that was one of our research modalities – we visited them to see what they are doing in terms of customer service, project management, human relations etc… that we believe form the foundation for businesses to grow," Mr. Fosu revealed.
The organisers say they are hoping to go beyond Africa Next year to celebrate businesses.
