Former IBF bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko has told Joy Sports, Referee Russel Mora who officiated his controversial defeat to Abner Mares should be banned from the sport.
The 31-year-old suffered a lot of low punches from Mares in the world title fight but referee Mora failed to even caution let alone deduct points from the Mexican.
Agbeko told JOY Sports' Nathaniel Attoh, “I want him to be banned. I don’t think he deserves to be in this game because he can kill in the ring. You can’t trust him with anyone's life.”
He added that, “Right now I am trying to forget what happened last week. I want to put it behind me and focus on December.”
Agbeko protested the unanimous points decision and has been handed a rematch after the worldwide condemnation of US ring officials' role in the bout.
