Jonathan Majors' criminal case is still going to trial.
The actor, 34, appeared virtually in a New York City courtroom Wednesday morning, where Judge Michael Gaffey denied a request for the dismissal of the Manhattan District Attorney's criminal case against Majors, PEOPLE confirms.
The decision means that Majors will face a trial, which follows his March 25 arrest after an alleged domestic dispute and, the following day, misdemeanour counts of assault and harassment.
The trial date has been set for Nov. 29.
Majors' defence team also requested in court on Wednesday that certain evidence containing "sensitive information" remain sealed and not for public knowledge. Judge Gaffey told the defence they could file paperwork for this opposition by Nov. 6.
An attorney for Majors had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.
Majors' criminal trial was delayed multiple times after it was originally set to begin in August. The Marvel star was originally arrested in New York City on March 25 over what New York City Police described at the time as "a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female."
The actor was charged with a number of misdemeanour assault and harassment charges following the arrest and could be sentenced to up to a year in jail if convicted during a criminal trial.
Prior to Wednesday's hearing and the motion for the dismissal of the criminal case against Majors, the actor had last appeared before the court virtually on Sept. 15, when his legal team claimed the prosecution “attempt[ed] to bury” key evidence in the case, according to Rolling Stone.
While Majors has retained his leading role in various Marvel Studios projects — including the ongoing second season of Disney+'s Loki series and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty — the actor reportedly lost out on multiple film roles and advertisement deals in the weeks following his arrest.
Majors next stars as an aspiring bodybuilder in the upcoming movie Magazine Dreams, scheduled to release on Dec. 8.
