Work on the proposed Gas Processing Plant at Domulinloanu in the Jomoro District was halted by a mob from the communities around the catchment area of the project on November 22.
The communities are Bonyere, Ndumsuazo, Kabenlazuazo and Egbazo; Mr Agbogyan Tetteh, a native of Bonyere, told the GNA on Wednesday.
He said the mob was demanding that the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) negotiate with them on the compensation to be paid as a result of the destruction of their crops by surveyors on the land demarcated for the project before the take off.
The leader of the GNPC survey team at the project site, who did not give his name, declined to give details of the mob action.
He said a meeting had been scheduled with the aggrieved farmers at the instance of the Jomoro District Chief Executive, Mr Victor Nyianyi Kablan, to resolve the impasse.
The survey works started about five months ago but are faced with opposition from some farmers who are demanding compensation for their crops which are being destroyed.
