A poor season for Kayseri Erciyesspor just got worse as John Boye's outfit confirmed relegation.
The team, based in the city of Kayseri, won just four games all season and after 32 games it is now mathematically impossible for them to claw their way to safety.
The loss on Sunday to Istanbul Buyuksehir meant that on the table, Kayseri have two sides above them - Karabukspor and Balikesirspor - who are also almost confirmed with just two games to finish the season.
Boye himself has played a key part in Kayseri's season, with 21 games this campaign. He's even chipped in two goals along the way but saw his team's form dip when he was at the Afcon with Ghana.
His partners in defence have had a tough time too as Emre Ozturk, Caner Osmanpasa and Anil Karaer leaked goals all season.
Coach Fatih Tekke has been trying to lift his players' spirits through it all. "We know the fans have been suffering all season and we apologise but we will make it up and try to come back into the Super Lig as fast as possible."
John Boye will now focus on getting his place in the Black Stars as the national side readies for an onslaught on the 2017 Afcon qualifiers that start next month.
