Chairman of the FA Cup committee Lepowura Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen Jawula says they are set to deliver a more competitive tournament in this season’s MTN FA Cup competition.
This year’s MTN FA Cup competition will get underway between November 9-15, 2013, with ninety-six clubs from the Second and third-tier division battling to progress from the preliminary stage of the competition.
48 qualified teams from the second Division will play each other in the Preliminary Round same as the 48 Division 1 clubs.
Defending champions SC Medeama and 15 other premier league clubs will wait to start their campaign in the cup competition in the Second Round, after Thursday’s preliminary round draw held at the Ghana Football Association head office.
Lepowura M.N.D Jawula in an interview with Joy Sports noted that they are looking forward to a more competitive tournament this season.
“There is a clear indication that the interest is on the upsurge and that excites me and we are looking forward to a significant competition this year where Ghanaians will troop to the stadia as I have always wished, to give us the support to ensure that we have a worthy champion who will go to Africa and perform well lifting the flag of Ghana high,” said Alhaji Jawula.
“We are anticipating a successful season and we [committee members] are ready to deliver what will make the competition more competitive.”
