Javier Zanetti believes the best team lost after seeing his Argentina side crash out of the Copa America to Uruguay after a 5-4 defeat on penalties.
The quarter-final clash in Santa Fe ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of action, but a Carlos Tevez penalty miss proved crucial as Sergio Batista's men were eliminated as host nation.
And Zanetti has summed up the mood inside the camp of the previous tournament favourites.
"Argentina played better than Uruguay during the 120 minutes, but we were unable to score enough goals," Zanetti told the press, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.com.
"It is hard to leave [the Copa America] empty handed, especially after everything we have done."
Uruguay will now play Peru in the semi-final on Tuesday, July 19.
