The Greater Accra Regional Tribunal has sentenced a 47-year old jailbird, Victor Addo to 10 years imprisonment for possessing 1,100 grammes of cannabis without lawful authority.
The tribunal, presided over by Justice Frank Manu found Addo guilty and convicted him accordingly.
Earlier Addo pleaded not guilty, pleaded for mitigation but the court ignored him saying it had wasted the tribunal's time.
The case of prosecution was that on November 20, 2005, a team of Policemen from Osu raided some parts in the vicinity and arrested a number of people, at South La near the Miami Beach.
Addo was found in possession of a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
The dried leaves were sent to the Police Forensic Laboratory and the drugs were found to be cannabis.
Addo was said to have returned from jail in 2003 after committing similar offences.
