Legendary athlete, Nii Adjin Tettey has urged sprinter Aziz Zakari to call time on his career after a string of disappointing performances over the past five years.
Zakari again broke the hearts of Ghanaians after failing to qualify to the final of the 100 metres at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Daegu, South Korea.
Adjin Tettey, the 81-year-old Olympian, says Aziz Zakari has paid his dues and needs call time on his career. He told JOY Sports, “there is no major event Aziz will run in and go to the final. He will be doing marvellously well in the heats and so on, come to final and there is something wrong because the physical exertion is not too much. He should be thinking of retiring.”
Zakari, now 35, participated at the 2000 Summer Olympics but failed to make it to the final of the 100 metres after sustaining an injury. He also took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics where he qualified to the semi final but failed to finish in the final of the 100 metres.
