Winner of the VGMA Best Rap Performance, Amerado, has expressed how it felt after he was announced the winner of the category.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, he shared that he had always wanted to win that award and couldn’t believe it when his name was mentioned on the night.
“I have always wanted this plaque. I was in a state of shock. It was like I was dreaming. So when I was announced the winner of the Best Rap Performance category, all I said to myself is ‘Thank you God Finally! Third time lucky.”
The Abotrɛ hitmaker also recalled that his mom was the first to call him after he won the award.
Amerado also highlighted that he wasn’t hopeful of a win at the just-ended VGMAs because that was his third nomination in that same category without a win, although in years past he has always been expecting to win.
“Every year, I feel like I deserve it, but then most of the time I lose, I remember I won the 3music award, but this time around I wasn’t too hopeful, but this time around, I had like 60 per cent hope I would win.”
Amerado recently released a 7-minute track titled Hardest.
