Alhaji Baba Salisu, Director, Ghana Identification Board has urged Moslem youth to aspire to higher heights by increasing their crave for knowledge.
Alhaji Baba who was speaking at the 41st National Islamic Youth Camp at Kadjebi said satisfaction with little things has the tendency to drive them into immoral activities that give Islam a bad image.
The Camp, organised twice every year, provided the platform for the Islamic youth to hear the words of the Prophet Mohammed and to brainstorm on issues affecting Islam.
It was under the theme: "Islam and religious tolerance - the role of the youth".
Alhaji Baba expressed worry at the inclination among the youth towards shortcuts in fulfilling their aspirations and admonished them to accept the reality of hard work, sacrifice and trials as the best way to achieving the aims with honour.
Sheikh Rashid Nasir, Chief Imam of Al-Sunna in the Central Region called for understanding among Moslems to confront their common problems of poverty and development in their communities.
He reminded Moslems that the Prophet Mohammed appealed for patience among his followers.
Sheikh Nasir said the adoption of secular education with all seriousness by Moslems was an important requirement for addressing poverty and low status among its youth.
Mr Kofi Adjei Ntim, District Chief Executive for Kadjebi commended the various Islamic sects in the district for co-existing peacefully and hoped that would continue to be the case.
He urged them to take advantage of the National Youth Employment programme (NYEP) to improve their living standards.
