The Public Enterprises Minister, Joseph Cudjoe in collaboration with the Institute of Directors Ghana (IoD-Ghana) has launched the 4th edition of the Directors’ Week Celebration which will be celebrated virtually from November 16 to 19.
Speaking at the virtual media launch of the Celebration, the Minister described the Institute as a very important collaborator in the government’s efforts to deepen good corporate governance practices in public enterprises.
“And I must say as the of Public Enterprises I find the institute’s work in this respect very germane to what the President is trying to do in terms of making sure that the public enterprises are governed corporately, and very efficiently,” he said, November 8.
The annual Directors’ Week Celebration is an event that brings directors and members of the Institute together to build their capacity, network, and share ideas on how to promote directorship and professionalism in their respective spheres of influence.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Good corporate governance and ethical leadership; an essential requirement for organisational turnaround’.
Describing the event as very commendable, he stated that it will provide organisations with the necessary guidelines to “reset and turnaround for sustainable growth…to strengthen governance systems and provide some ethical leadership for the benefit of all stakeholders” as the country emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added that IoD-Ghana through their forums has created opportunities “for directors and leaders to broaden their knowledge and sharpen their skills in achieving directed outcomes.”
The Minister finally encouraged all stakeholders to join the IoD-Ghana in sustaining the culture of good corporate governance in the country for the country.
The IoD-Ghana Directors Week Celebration will comprise activities including strategic holder engagements, annual general meetings, capacity building sessions, IoD-Ghana members’ forum, and IoD corporate governance excellence awards.
