The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif has charged members of the newly inaugurated International Games and Competitions Committee (IGCC), to serve the country with dignity and integrity.
Chief Director of the Youth and Sports Ministry, Hafiz Adam will chair the committee, with National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General, Professor Peter Twumasi, Worwornnyo of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Sahnoon of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Peter Adjei, Ghana Paralympic Committee, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Kwesi Agyeman of the National Security Council, Jeffery Manzan Owusu, and Salisu Omaru, NSA, Fiifi Abassah, State Protocol and Emmanuel Oteng, Accountant of the Sports Ministry serving as members.
Inaugurating the 10-member Committee to oversee Ghana's organisation and participation in continental competitions at the conference room of the Ministry on Monday, Mr Ussif reminded members of how the 2018 Commonwealth Games scandal dented the image of the country.
He said the sanctity of Ghana supersedes the interest of any individual and wants them to ensure the country participates in all competitions scandal-free, starting with the Tokyo Olympic Games.
“We have confidence in your capacity and organisational ability," Ussif told the committee.
"We expect you to deliver scandal-free organization for team Ghana [in all competitions we will be participating].
"You have been invited to serve your nation and you must serve with dignity and integrity bearing in mind what happened to our participation in the last Commonwealth games in Australia," he stated.
The Minister assured the committee of the unflinching support of his office to help them succeed, adding that, their role in the success of the country's quest to win laurels in any games, starting with the Tokyo Olympics, is very essential.
The Yagaba-Kubore MP tasked the committee to ensure Team Ghana is adequately prepared for the competition.
Chairman of the International Games and Competition Committte, Hafiz Adam thanked the Minister for the confidence reposed in them, assuring him of his team's commitment to upholding the noble values of the Olympics games.
Their first task is to supervise Ghana's participation in this year's olympics to be staged in Tokyo.
