The Interior Ministry and the Commission on Small Arms are to embark on an intensive campaign to create awareness about the dangers of illicit weapons.
Deputy Interior Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu says the campaign has become necessary to discourage the manufacture and use of illicit arms.
Over four hundred illicit arms were destroyed yesterday in the Volta regional capital, Ho to commemorate the UN weapon destruction day.
It is estimated that there are some 250,000 small arms in circulation in Ghana.
Mr. Agyemang Manu who also chairs the National Commission on Small Arms says the educational campaign will be extended to the various educational institutions.
