The pressure continues to mount on beleaguered Inter Milan boss Rafa Benitez after his side were held to a third successive draw by mid-table Lecce in a match telecast live last night on Joy Sports and Adom-TV on Multi-TV.
The draw was Inter's third game without a win in all competitions following their Champions League defeat to Tottenham and a 1-1 Serie A draw with Brescia.
Lecce denied Inter Milan a first win in November with a late equaliser at Via del Mare. Ruben Olivera levelled 11 minutes from time to rescue a point for the hosts with a 1-1 draw, just three minutes after Diego Milito had broken their resistance.
Visiting boss Rafael Benitez was without a host of key players - Wesley Sneijder, Walter Samuel, Julio Cesar, Esteban Cambiasso were all absent through illness or injury - but still had enough chances to put the game to bed, hitting the post twice in the second half. Inter might have snatched the points in the 88th minute, but Dejan Stankovic's header hit the outside of the post.
AC Milan climbed atop the league standings, courtesy a 3-1 trouncing of Palermo at the San Siro. Alexandre Pato got his fifth goal in seven games as AC Milan went top of Serie A as previous leaders Lazio suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Cesena.
Pato opened the scoring for AC Milan but Armin Bacinovic equalised for opponents Palermo with just under half an hour left. A Zlatan Ibrahimovic penalty and a late goal by Robinho ensured Milan claimed all three points with a 3-1 win at San Siro.
In other results, Stephen Appiah’s Cesena recorded a shock 1-0 win over hitherto league leaders Lazio. Despite the win - their third of the season - Cesena remain rooted to 18th place in the league standings.
Napoli defeated Cagliari to move up into third, pushing defending Champions Inter Milan down into fourth. Del Piero failed to mark his 36th birthday celebrations with victory as his side, Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw at Brescia.
The influential Alessandro Dimanti brought Brescia level minutes after the in-form Fabio Quagliarella opened the scoring for the old Lady of Turin in the 71st minute.
Roma claimed their third straight win with a 3-2 home triumph over Fiorentina. Catani over came Udinese 1-0 to record their first win since September. Davide Ballardini's tenure as Genoa coach started with a 1-0 success over Bologna.
Serie A action on Joy Sports and Adom-TV on Multi-TV returns next Sunday, 14th November, when Inter host AC Milan in the Derby della Madonina, the mother of all derbies. Coverage begins LIVE at 7:15pm.
