The former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) is calling for the incorporation of the GPS system in taking care of emergency situations.
Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare said such a system will make healthcare delivery efficient.
He said the GPS system which is now available to every local area in the country could be used to help locate patients.
Dr Nsiah-Asare said it will help ambulance staff locate a hospital that has available beds, therefore, solving a longtime problem that patients and hospital staff often encounter at hospitals.
The former GHS boss said because of the way GPS systems store information, the receiving hospital knows who is coming to the hospital and it could also help alleviate pressure on hospitals that are hard-hit by the ‘no bed syndrome’.
