The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG) has applauded Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson on his appointment as Finance Minister and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare on her assumption of office as Trade Minister.
In a statement signed by Samson A. Awingobit, the Executive Secretary, IEAG expressed confidence in the leadership abilities of both ministers, emphasizing their potential to transform Ghana’s trade and maritime sectors.
“Dr Forson’s vast expertise in fiscal policy and economic management, combined with Hon. Ofosu-Adjare’s commitment to empowering businesses, particularly women-led enterprises, makes them the right leaders for the times,” the statement read.
The association pledged its full cooperation with the new ministers, urging them to prioritise pressing challenges facing Ghanaian traders.
These include bureaucratic bottlenecks, high tariffs, and infrastructural deficiencies, which have long stifled the growth of the import and export sector.

The IEAG also lauded Ms Ofosu-Adjare’s focus on empowering women-led businesses and her vision for mentorship programs targeting young female entrepreneurs.
“Her emphasis on gender inclusivity in trade will not only uplift women but also contribute to economic expansion,” the statement noted.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for Ghanaian traders and fostering a thriving, competitive trade environment.
It looks forward to collaborating with the ministers to drive efficiency, boost investment, and elevate Ghana’s position in the global market.
