Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says he will reintroduce the election of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
This, he believes, will allow for improved governance, decentralisation and accountability in the government.
Speaking at the Manifesto launch on August 18, he said although the current constitution was designed for political stability, it was time it be amended to align it more with national development.
In this regard, he said “We are committed to the process to amend the 1992 Constitution through extensive public consultation, with key emphasis on issues such as election of MMDCEs to deepen decentralisation, exgratia, and empowering institutions while reducing the power of the President.”
Also, Dr Bawumia said the NPP will leverage the private sector's capabilities to enhance infrastructure development in Ghana.
This forms part of his vision for involving private enterprises in the nation’s infrastructural projects.
Dr Bawumia also reiterated his commitment to fulfilling all promises made to Ghanaians as part of his agenda to move the country forward.
He assured the public that, if given the mandate in the upcoming 2024 elections, he would ensure the implementation of policies that drive economic growth and development.
