The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong, has commended the Amansie West District Assembly and the Manso-Nkwanta Traditional Council for providing the police with a new headquarters' offices and renovating police barracks at Manso-Nkwanta.
The IGP gave the commendation at Manso-Nkwanta when he paid a visit to the district to interact with police, chiefs and district assembly officials and to inspect new police buildings.
Mr Acheampong asked police personnel to work hard to raise the good image of the service in the country.
The District Chief Executive, Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, appealed to the IGP to elevate the police district headquarters to the status of divisional headquarters and also post more police personnel to the area.
He said the assembly has built a district police headquarters at Manso-Nkwanta at a cost of 350 million cedis, renovated police barracks at a cost of 240 million cedis and provided office furniture at a cost of 10 million cedis.
He said the assembly is to construct new police stations at Manso-Datano and Keniago and would renovate the police commander's residence at a total cost of 1.60 billion cedis.
Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, Omanhene of Manso-Nkwanta, appealed to the IGP to provide vehicles and additional personnel to the district.
