Deputy Education Minister nominee, Dr Clement Apaak has emphasised the vital role that teachers play in the nation’s development, acknowledging that educators are the backbone of the country’s educational system and would prioritise increasing teachers' salaries above any other profession.
The Deputy Minister reiterated that teachers are the most important group in the nation's professional landscape, highlighting that everyone present at the vetting proceedings is a product of teachers’ hard work and dedication.
"I honestly believe that teachers are the most important in the scheme of affairs; all of us here gathered are products of teachers," the Deputy Minister nominee stated.
He made these remarks while responding to questions before the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 25.
The Deputy Minister nominee further expressed a deep appreciation for the efforts of educators, stating that if he had the financial resources, he would ensure teachers were paid more than any other professional group.
"If I had my own pot of resources, I would pay teachers more than any group of professions, but I don’t," he noted.
