In recognition of his exceptional leadership and dedication at the Ministry of Energy, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promoted Mr. Herbert Krapa from his role as Minister of State at the Energy Ministry to the substantive Minister for the sector.
The President lauded Mr. Krapa for his hard work, noting that he had demonstrated remarkable diligence, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to his duties. These qualities have made a significant contribution to the progress and stability of Ghana's energy sector.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr. Eugene Fiifi Bentum Arhin, confirmed that Mr. Krapa’s appointment took effect on November 19, 2024.
It stated, “Mr. Krapa has served as Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy since his appointment on 15th July 2024, and, according to the President, has demonstrated exceptional diligence, professionalism and steadfast commitment to his duties, contributing significantly to the progress and stability of Ghana's energy sector."
The statement continued, "In recognition of his hard work and leadership, President Akufo-Addo is confident that Mr. Krapa will continue to distinguish himself in his new role, ensuring the continued growth and transformation of the energy sector in service to the nation."
The elevation comes as no surprise, given Mr. Krapa's exemplary performance since his swearing-in as Minister of State in July 2024. During the ceremony at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo praised Mr. Krapa for his excellent work in previous roles within government, notably as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, where he played a pivotal role in driving initiatives that bolstered the trade sector and promoted industrial growth. The President also noted that Mr. Krapa had excelled in his subsequent role as Deputy Minister of Energy, a testament to his outstanding capabilities.
"This elevation is a testament to his proven track record, unwavering dedication, and the trust I have in his ability to steer the Ministry towards greater heights," said President Akufo-Addo. He further emphasised that Mr. Krapa’s responsibility was to consolidate the gains made in the Ministry of Energy, ensuring that energy policies are effectively implemented, with a focus on sustainable energy and universal access to electricity.
