Former president and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed confidence in his ability to tackle the escalating food prices and other economic challenges facing the country.
In a post on X on Sunday, September 22, Mr Mahama assured Ghanaians that he has a clear plan to address the daily increases in food prices, which have burdened households across the nation.
The former President attributed the rising cost of food and basic commodities to poor economic management under the current government, stressing that immediate and decisive interventions are needed.
I am clear in my mind what has to be done to halt the daily increase in the price of food and other essential commodities because of the economic mismanagement by the government of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia.

Mr Mahama stressed that his previous experience as President had equipped him with the knowledge and understanding required to reverse the current economic downturn and stabilise the food market.
He outlined that his approach would focus on boosting agricultural productivity, improving access to affordable inputs for farmers, and strengthening domestic food supply chains to mitigate inflationary pressures.
Additionally, Mr Mahama pledged to implement broader economic policies aimed at reducing the cost of living, improving livelihoods, and creating sustainable jobs for the youth.
The former President also called on Ghanaians to support the NDC in the upcoming 2024 elections, noting that the party’s vision is rooted in ensuring economic stability and equitable growth.
He emphasised that under his leadership, the country will witness reforms that will halt the daily price hikes and bring relief to struggling families.
