Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Presidential candidate of the Convention People's Party (CPP) at the weekend said he was ready to forgive all detractors within the party who were working to derail the chances of the CPP.
He said the critical issue now was to adopt measures that would help the CPP to unseat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and that such measures called for continued unity in the party instead of resorting to backbiting and the "pull him down" attitude, which would ruin the efforts of the party.
Dr. Kobina Atta Bainson, Skin Diseases Specialist, formerly of Ankaful Disease Control Hospital, has urged Ghanaians to jealously embrace and nurture the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Dr Nduom said this when he addressed party members and the media in Tamale on Saturday on his first day of the three-day visit to the Northern Region to solicit votes for the party in the December 7, general elections.
Dr Nduom said, there was now good will in the CPP and advised members to commit themselves to working hard to win power to continue with the good works of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, which successive governments abandoned.
Referring to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) report against him, Dr Ndoum explained that the matter was raised during the NDC administration and he personally wrote to the then Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Professor Evans Attah Mills, now flag bearer of the NDC who cleared him.
He said the issue resurfaced when he was first appointed as a Minister in the NPP administration and after thorough investigations, he was cleared and was subsequently approved as a Minister and expressed disappointment at those who were calling for his head, ignoring the interest of the party.
"The critical issues that should border or confront the CPP as a party is how we would collaborate and work hard to win elections and go to the Flag Staff House rather than throwing sand in our own food," he said.
Dr Nduom said there were only three political parties comprising the NDC, the NPP and the CPP in this year's elections, which stood the chance of winning and that Ghanaians had seen how disappointing the NDC and the NPP had been and would now opt for the CPP.
"Sometimes my heart feels like jumping out when the NPP and the NDC are talking about comparing of records. The two parties never want to accept failures", he stated.
The CPP flag bearer called on the NDC and the NPP to meet the CPP for debate if they want comparison of records.
He said a CPP government would construct first class roads to link all regional capitals and to all tourists attractions to facilitate free flow of goods and services while a railway line would be constructed from the south to link the north.
He said the north deserved better than its current predicament and that a CPP government would also consider constructing bungalows for all teachers including those in nursery schools whiles education would be free from Kindergarten to Senior High Schools.
Dr Nduom said attention would also be given to manufacture of Made-in-Ghana products and that money would be sourced to assist mechanics in Kumasi to manufacture Made-in-Ghana cars and he would be the first President to patronise its use.
He said the CPP was embarking on a programme in mid-July to target first time voters and to educate them on the need to vote for the party and to ensure that their votes were not wasted.
