One of the flagbearer hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who tied in the Super Delegates Election last Saturday, says he will not step down for his contender.
A confident Francis Addai-Nimoh said he had the dream of leading the party many years ago, and it is a dream is not willing to let go now.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Citi TV on Tuesday, August 29, the flagbearer hopeful said he had a conviction before contesting in the polls as all other aspirants had.
He thus shot down calls for him to opt out of the run-off contest between him and Boakye Agyarko scheduled for Saturday, September 2.
“It is an open process and every card-bearing member in good standing, and if you assess yourself and believe that you have the conviction and can convince yourself and have the courage that you can provide quality leadership to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), I will always encourage you to contest to lead the party.
“I have my conviction and I have my ambition and in the same manner, the other nine aspirants had their ambitions and I don’t know when somebody had his dream of leading the party, but I have had my dream for many years, and so I am pushing it, and I am going ahead with it.”
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the party, Stephen Ntim has said the leadership of the party will engage the two of them for an amicable solution.
“Understanding will prevail eventually for the party to move on. For the two aspirants with a tie, it is just a matter of prevailing on them if one could give in to the other, but it looks like they are all prepared to go in with full haul, so we are getting ready to meet tomorrow, [today, Wednesday, August 30].
“NEC will meet followed by National Council, we are trying to find a solution or finality to the dialogue that we are having,” he stated.
