Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has brushed off critics of his latest documentary Corona Quacks.
The piece uncovered illegal dealings in so-called Covid-19 cures.
But After the premier of the BBC Africa documentary on Monday, there was fairly widespread grumbling on social media, suggesting the documentary did not live up to its billing.
Scores of commentators on the issue expressed disappointment after government officials and politicians were not featured in the video.
But speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM Tuesday, Anas said the focus of the documentary was not to bring down any politician.
He said the aim was to expose persons who wanted to cash in on vulnerable persons seeking Covid-19 cure.
“The number one problem we face now is Covid-19,” he told host, Kojo Yankson.
Besides that, the celebrated journalist said Ghana is in a political season and his tradition has been that political times he does not do political stories.
“It has always been like that for me…I am not the one to swing the pendulum on any body’s behalf. Not the year of election,” he said.
He said he was taught at a young age to gauge the season before doing his stories and the convention for him is to avoid political stories during political seasons.
