After 10 years in the showbiz industry, popular Ghanaian musician Mzvee has been recounting how she began her music career.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews' Becky on E-Vibes she said “I didn’t want to become a musician."
"Honestly, I didn’t know what I wanted to become at all. So I was going to school still trying to figure myself out when I got introduced to music by a friend. I got a call from my friend after secondary school saying she wanted to form a group, even though I knew my parents will not agree, I accepted the offer and that was where it all began,” she said.
The 30-year-old musician acknowledged the role of Samira Buari and her former record label Lynx entertainment as they helped in discovering her talent.
MzVee first burst onto the Ghanaian music scene in the summer of 2012 as the lead singer of Lynx Entertainment's girl band D3. The band had popular hits like "Good Girls Gone Bad" and "Gyani Gyani" before disbanding at the end of 2013 due to the young members' educational commitments.
MzVee later launched her solo career with her debut single ‘Borkor Borkor’ released in January 2014. She followed this with the hit single ‘Natural Girl’ and went on to win the 'Unsung Artiste Award' at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards.
Her debut album was released in November 2014 and features collaborations with several award-winning artistes such as Stonebwoy, VIP, Shatta Wale, Richie Mensah, M.anifest and Didier Awadi.
She has five albums to her credit.
