Coach Bashiru Hayford caused a stir last Friday when he told Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, Owner and Life Patron of Kotoko, that he is not happy as head coach of the club.
“Nana, with all due respect as I stand before you right now I am not a happy man as Kotoko coach”.
The aggrieved coach threw the bombshell in the presence of the entire Kotoko management, led by Sylvester Asare Owusu, the CEO, the playing body and some die-hard Kotoko supporters at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The Kotoko team had stormed the palace, the official seat of Asantehene to present to the Otumfuo the league trophy and other silverware that the Porcupine Warriors had won recently.
The Kotoko coach though, failed to mention what was really making him sad and rather appealed to Otumfuo to intervene to help save him from his predicament.
The Asantehene, who seemed to empathise with the coach, immediately called for a meeting between the management of the club and Coach Bash to resolve the problem, whatever it was.
Meanwhile, Daily Guide Sports has gathered that Coach Bash is unhappy because he is yet to be handed a permanent contract by management of Kotoko though he had led the Porcupine Warriors to annex the league trophy last season.
Other sources also said, the Kotoko Coach was bitter because the Kotoko management did not support him as he had expected them to when his wife passed away recently.
In a related development, Mr. Kwame Baah Nuako, Communications Director of Kotoko has categorically stated that management of the club and coach Bash have successfully ironed out their differences as authorized by the Otumfuo.
He attributed Coach Bash’s perceived sadness to lack of communication between the Kotoko coach and management, stressing that all was well and that very soon Bash would be handed a contract.
