Ghanaian politician and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Samuel Nartey George says he is not arrogant as perceived by Ghanaians.
The member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is well known for his outspoken nature and has over the years stood his ground when it comes to national issues.
Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he said people call him arrogant because they are intimidated by his level of confidence.
"I am not arrogant. People are just intimidated by my confidence. They have an inferiority complex. That is what it is and I am being real and straight with you. They don’t understand why you can feel comfortable in your shoes and you can look them in the face and say what you want to say and walk away."
Mr. Sam George has on a number of times shown Ghanaians how fearless and outspoken he is with regards to national issues.
He was heavily involved in the fight against LGBTQ activities in Ghana and held a strong opinion on a proposed law which would impose harsh penalties on the LGBT community.
In 2021, together with other Members of Parliament, he proposed a law criminalizing homosexuality and many forms of LGBTQ support and activism, even medical support.
The draft has been widely criticized by human rights activists for its "cruelty".
However, Sam George told the host that he is responsible for all of his utterances and fears no one but God.
"I fear no man; I fear God alone, it's only God who I fear. I don’t even fear my parents. I respect man and there is a different between fear and respect and so I don’t fear anybody".
