Genk forward, Joseph Paintsil has confirmed he has been included in the Black Stars provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The 24-year-old has had a blistering start to the 2022/23 season for his club, scoring six goals and providing four assists in the Belgian league.
His performances for Genk have got Ghanaians calling for his inclusion in Otto Addo's squad for the global showpiece after being left out of the players for the last international break where Ghana played Brazil and Nicaragua.
Speaking to voetbalkrant.com, Paintsil confirmed he is part of the initial list submitted by the gaffer for the tournament to be staged in Qatar and hopes to make the final squad.
"I am in the pre-selection. I hope to be among the 26 in the final selection," he said.
"It will be announced within a week or so. My goal and my assist may also be important with a view to the World Cup."
Paintsil scored and provided an assist over the weekend in Genk's 3-1 win over KV Mechelen.
