Few hours after losing the race to becoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards' (VGMA) Artiste of the Year, Highlife musician KiDi has applauded gospel artiste, Diana Hamilton for emerging victorious.

Taking to his social media platform, the "Enjoyment" hitmaker thanked God Almighty as well as Ghanaians for the support given to push him to be part of the nominees worthy of being crowned the overall artiste of the year.

He stated: "To God be the Glory. Thank you Ghana. Huge congrats Aunty Diana".

The much anticipated night, filled with glitz and glam became tense as time drew nigh to determine who carries the most envious award. Prior to the night, many on social media had predicted a win for KiDi, stating that he had worked hard and deserved to be recognized.

Although the Highlife artiste shared similar opinions on the red carpet, he also stated that any of his contenders was capable of being crowned artiste of the year.

But the projection of a win for KiDi grew intense as he swept four awards before Ghana adjudged who will be crowned artiste of the year.

The ‘Say Cheese’ hitmaker won the EP of the Year, Afrobeat/Afropop Artiste of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year, and Highlife Song of the Year awards while Diana Hamilton won the Gospel Song of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song of the Year and Gospel Artiste of the Year.

But grace located Diana Hamilton who together with her team mounted the stage to claim her award as the Artiste of the year.

During this period, KiDi was nowhere to be found as he dashed off to the nearest exist.

Aside from congratulating the gospel artiste, KiDi also made humour out of his pain by reiterating that he will make a come back next year. According to him, he will arrive at his destination after making it out of the traffic.

For scores on social media, the intiative taken by the singer is commendable and laudable.
