HR Focus storms the varsity canvas once again with of its seasoned tertiary competition; the HR Focus Business Challenge 2019.  The challenge saw nine universities in Ghana battling it out in the preliminary stage of the competition.

The participating schools included University of Professional Studies, Accra; University of Ghana Business School (UGBS); Pentecost University; Wisconsin University; Ashesi University; KAAF University; Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and All Nations University. The objective was to unearth the entrepreneurial and leadership capabilities of participants, while creating the avenue for shared learning. The case study of the day dwelt on strategy, innovation, business competitiveness, among others. Competitors normed, formed and came up with solutions to the business case of the day.

Criteria for awarding marks was based on teamwork, creativity, presentation, feasibility and acceptability of each competing school’s presentation

At the end of the day, the schools ranked as follows; Wisconsin and All Nations Universities tied at the 7thposition; UGBS – 6th; Ashesi University – 5th; UPSA and KAAF tiedat 3rd; Pentecost University– 2nd, and KNUST – 1st.

The twist of the day was that all teams qualified to the next stage of the competition; having passed the threshold of 120 marks. The next stage of the competition promises to be tougher and demanding.

The judges of the day were Mr Dominic Naadi (HR Business Partner, Standard Chartered Bank), Sylvia Turkson (Service Delivery Manager, Standard Chartered Bank) and Mr David Mills (Head, L'AINE HR Consultancy).
