Jamestown is located directly east of the Korle Lagoon. This Accra suburb is one of the oldest.
A fishing community, it emerged around the James Fort which was built by the British during the 17th century on the Gulf of Guinea coast.
Rapid population growth of the city has turned the once-plush community into a dense mixture of commercial and residual use.
