A former Deputy Ghana Ambassador to China, Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah has suspended all his political campaign for one-week following the demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
In a statement issued by his political office, Mr Ankrah noted that he is saddened about the news and to honour the memory of the founder of the party he loves and cherishes he will not involve himself in any active politics from November 12 to November 19.
He stated that the news “comes as a great loss to the entire country because the former president was to the nation a father, hero, role model, proponent, and progenitor of our democracy.”
The former diplomat also extended his condolences to the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings his children and the whole family.
Mr Rawlings passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday after a short illness.
The 73-year-old death has sent shock waves not just in Ghana but across the world.
