HOPSA celebrates Golden Jubilee anniversary

The Holy Child Past Students Association (HOPSA) in a solemn ceremony with a call for unity has marked its 50th anniversary.

Birthed 50 years ago, HOPSA’s primary focus is to ensure the welfare of past and current students as well as contribute its quota to the maintenance of infrastructure in the School and College.

The event was under the theme: ‘Celebrating 50 years of sisterhood - A strong association, A strong institution.’

Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony held at Christ the King Parish in Accra on Saturday, October 26, 2024, former HOPSA President, Magdalene Apenteng noted this milestone is imperative to the Association as it presents opportunity to reflect on its past achievements and future plans.

“At this time, we want to look at what we have achieved, we want to look at our shortfalls, we want to ensure that the school has moved to a certain level.

“Today is a day for us to reminiscence on what we have done, to look at the way forward, to see what we can do to support the school and sisters. Although we have come out of school, there are some challenges and we have to ensure that we provide support to each other and the future generation,” she said.

Giving her remarks, President of HOPSA Accra, Karen Asmah encouraged members not to relent their sacrifices and efforts which have propelled HOPSA to the current status.

“We stand tall because the foundation built on the values instilled in us remains firm. Let us not lose sight that our sacrifices and concerned efforts have propelled us to this height.

“As we celebrate this milestone, let us forge ahead with greater passion to continue what was started by the founders of the Association,” she stated.

HOPSA Corporate Social Responsibility

As part of its corporate social responsibility, HOPSA, has over the years supported needy but brilliant students.

It has also supported the less privileged with the adoption of the Female Acute ward of the Accra Psychiatric hospital to cater for their needs and challenges. It has also made donations to institutions like the Teshie School for the Deaf, Kodiabe, a village near Dodowa, Help Age Ghana and the Ark Foundation Shelter for Abused Women and Children.

A Golden Gift from HOPSA 2000 to HOPSA Accra

Reflecting on the remarkable milestone of HOPSA Accra, the millennium year group, HOPSA 2000 who are hosting next year's speech day, made a presentation of a golden gift for a golden age to HOPSA Accra.

They also seized the opportunity to urge all and sundry to support their legacy project through giving to the Maintenance fund project.
